Lacie. Chaundra. And insert any other white woman. And it's a good bet that if she was missing, we would know all about her.
Media execs are always perplexed when jammed up about a white woman going missing, and throwing wall-to-wall coverage on the story, and say nothing when a black woman is gone.
Today marks the sixth day in the disappearance of Nailah Franklin, a Chicago pharmaceutical representative, and over the weekend, several national TV shows dedicated airtime to her case.
I was channel flipping and saw stories on MSNBC and CNN, and I know Nancy Grace dealt with it on her show on CNN Headline News.
Franklin, 28, has not been heard from since Tuesday, when she called and text messaged friends, as well as her boyfriend, who lives in Milwaukee.
This from today's Chicago Sun-Times:
"The Chicago Police Marine Unit has been performing "surface searches" on all 27 miles of local shoreline for a missing Chicago woman whose car was found in Hammond, Ind. over the weekend.
"The police Marine Unit has been using boats to perform "surface searches" from Evanston to Calumet Harbor, Ind. on and near the Lake Michigan shoreline, about 27 miles, according to Marine Unit Sgt. Robert Fitzsimmons on Monday morning.
"'With the boat we run a couple hundred yards off shore, by the bricks and boulders, where you can’t see," according to the sergeant. "We haven’t done actual dives.'"
"The process has been made "a little harder" because searchers don’t have an exact address of where the woman was last seen. Fitzsimmons could not confirm a report the woman’s purse was found in Chicago."
Franklin's car was found Saturday, and police searched a retentino pond at a golf course.
Friends and family held a prayer service Sunday at her church, Trinity United Church of Christ.
Police say Franklin had filed a report shortly before she disappeared, stating that a former male acquaintance had been making harassing calls to her.

This black women that is missing, I believe that there are some white men involved.
I believe that these white men are planning on hurting our black women and children even more so now because of their unprofound hatred in their hearts for towards us and that their white women have a curiosty and a myth going on about black men. White women hate our black women. White women are some of the most trashy white women that I have ever seen in my life. The good old white boys have tried to make all the hateful disgusting rules for black people just like their ancestors did when they found out that the original Africans had diamonds, gold you name they had it in Africa. These disgusting child molesting white men are some of the most jealous trashy things I have ever seen. Everything they think is theirs, but all they have ever done is rob, stole, kill, lie, cheat commit some of the most aweful crimes ever in history and they have the nerves to try and send us all to prison for their crimes they have committed. When God returns to this earth you people are going to pay a price for your life for hurting every black person that they have hurt especially those that are innocent, especially our children. Black people are some of the most forgiving people I have ever met in my whole entire life. God said veagence is HIS not mans and every black man, woman and child has tried to live by God's words. God bless each and every black person on this earth, but you have to remember that God said that if you turn to HIM he said that he will make your enemies out of our footstool. Black people hate their own race of people especially black men towards black women. White men have your minds so twisted and it all started from slavery. Black women have had to struggle just like you all and you will flaunt a white disgusting female in a sister's face thinking that you are hurting her but you really are hurting yourself. They have stole everything thing from a black man, woman and child and then have white america believing that they are the creator of everything on this earth. They are only creators of hatred, murder, molestion etc. You all get my drift, and they are the most jealous. They are inhuman. Let's pray for each other. Let's take care of our families, let us be mindful that GOD is not a LIAR!!! We all as a black nation all over the world need to come and unify ourselves so that GOD will give us back what was ours in the first place.

Could somebody email me back and tell me who Jackson is in this case?
My address is eboneyneely@yahoo.com I hope they are questioning the "friend" who she reported was harassing her. This is interesting: the uncle said," "they" found her body but the police are not saying that it is her body. Is it or not? Where did the white people come in at or was the friend white?

I just received a link today from someone in Chicago, stating that the body they found was her. They used dental records to prove it was her. I just feel so bad. I didnt even know her but i wish it was not her. Her family will be in my prayers.

I have been following this case since I heard about it on the news and as the mom of two very young children I am constantly sickened by the senseless acts of violence that take place against our society. I have been praying for Nailah and now I pray for her families strength in this time of loss and thank God that you had such a beautiful young lady in your lives and that her legacy will continue to live on. God's word says that the wicked we will one day see no more and they will be cut down like the chaffe. I believe this to be true, be encouraged. Love, Garlinda Price

This is the first I've heard of this case. I am so sorry. I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of this beautiful and intelligent young lady. I am so sorry her life had to be cut short in such a violent way. I will keep you all in my prayers. I hope they get the dog who did this to her. This person has to pay dearly.

Does she have parents. All I hear about are her sisters?

This story really touched my heart; I feel like this could've happened to anyone of us. We've got to be more alert as a community. I know a lot of times we walk straight ahead without taking a moment to see what's going on around us. It seems like this day in age we have to be more alert than ever and prepared to fight a battle. I send my condolences.

I am so sorry for the death of this young beautiful woman. I am sure she will be missed dearly by her family. It hurts my heat that this woman's story was not brought up by the media. God bless her family and they are in my prayers.

This is extremely sad. If only she would have been found alive and well. I prayed for her everyday. Now that she is gone i still think about her. I did not even know her. Just seeing her smile showed that she had a bright future. I hope they catch who did this to her and they suffer! I am praying for her family now.

My prayers are with the family. I have been following Nailah's story since the beginning. I did not know Nailah but I feel as if I did. Her story touched my heart. I have a sister around her age and a neice that is in her twenties. Both who have a lot going for them. I pray for their safety and all Black women young and old. May the Lord our God comfort you.

My heart goes out to the young lady's family and may they catch the beast that did this to her.

Sincerest condolences and prayers for swift justice and family peace/restoration! I had not heard of this case at all - live in Ohio - and if it weren't for Essence I'd probably still be un-aware of the tragic events?
Why are we bombarded with images and breaking news reports to hear about the "Lacys" and the "Ambers"..but not the Nailahs? I don't ever wish there be situations of murder and malice...yet we ARE living in those times...and without God keeping your mind...you WILL do anything- even slip under the influence of evil. (God have mercy on us all)

Hi there, I stumbled upon your blog and I'm looking for more blogs or websites just like yours because much more attention needs to be paid to the unidentified black men and women in this country.
In New Jersery there are over 200, and in other states it is the same. I am a white woman who has a missing persons website and also it has the unidentified in it.
I've been looking into most of these cases, and in many of them, we never hear of those black people that are missing let alone unidentified and I'm getting stressed thinking about it, and pulling my hair out searching the data bases that are in place for missing people.
Apparently the only people that America cares about are blonde blue eyed women who go missing and it's not right. Too many black men and women are still not indentified and so that's why I'm writing you.
We need to get the word out somehow and see what we can do to get these black men and women on the data base sites, because apparently they are not all listed.
Please respond to let me know what you think, here is my website.

Maybe by pulling together we can get some of these people identified.

Today was the 1st time I logged on the Essence website & I immediately went to Nailah story. I heard NOTHING on this & I live in Fort Lauderdale Florida. I agree as many others that if it had been a white woman I would of heard about this like many others. And maybe if her story had alot of media attention she could have been saved but now we'll never know. I am deeply sorry for the family but I am glad that they were able to give her a respectful burial. There was some closure & I pray that they will capture the sick person. Crazy people come in all colors. She will be remembered as a beautiful woman as seen in this article. God Bless
