Statement from Sen. Clinton on her loss in South Carolina

Just got this email from the Clinton campaign after her loss to Sen. Barack Obama in South Carolina:

Statement from Hillary Clinton

“I have called Senator Obama to congratulate him and wish him well. “Thank you to the people of South Carolina who voted today and welcomed me into their homes over the last year. Your stories will stay with me well beyond this campaign and I am grateful for the support so many of you gave to me.

“We now turn our attention to the millions of Americans who will make their voices heard in Florida and the twenty-two states as well as American Samoa who will vote on February 5th.

“In the days ahead, I’ll work to give voice to those who are working harder than ever to be heard. For those who have lost their job or their home or their health care, I will focus on the solutions needed to move this country forward. That’s what this election is about. It’s about our country, our hopes and dreams. Our families and our future.”

Has anyone actually watched HRC's post-SC event? She goes on for over an hour. It is torture. It is pathetic and sad. And the audience is falling asleep. And I guess Bill went on for 75 minutes wherever he was tonight.

Hillary is so arrogant she can't imagine losing and always dismisses HER LOSSES as if it doesn't count. It does count!....God help us if she gets in the White House. VOTE OBAMA

In this election cycle minorities, women and working class Americans with democratic leanings should be ecstatic. Instead, far too many of us have been marginalized, insulted, condescended to and dismissed...by our own Democratic Party. I cannot speak for anyone beyond myself, a young African-American female who has voted in every election big and small since she was 18 years old, but I imagine I am not the only one tired of being caricatured as an idiot, regardless of who I support.

I have a whole petition that says just this - I am not alone. I am willing to defect from this party if this continues to be a family business for the Clintons.

Can't help thinking about what the suffragette and abolutionist Elizabeth Cady Stanton wrote in her autobiography "Eighty Years and More", "It's a question of whether we step aside and let 'Sambo' into the kingdom first". 'Sambo', was of course Frederick Douglass. Then, in 1851 Sojourner Truth, an uninvited guest at the Women's Rights Convention rocked the house with her "Ain't I a Woman"? speech. Sojourner reminded those in the audience that "among Black people there are women; and among women there are Blacks." Obviously, Black women's voices and input were not regarded as being important

My Comment is for kate. You are the very type of voter that scares me. Because you have issues with a candiate you would be willing as you stated to defect. Read what Jesse Jackson comments on that is and learn.

J.J: That means that they’re going to vote for some anti–civil rights Republicans, who’s going to further stack the Supreme Court. And they’re going to vote for some anti–affirmative action Republicans. So you have to be mature in this process.. .

You can get the rest from Essence interview with Mr. Jackson.
